Did you know May is National Military Appreciation Month? At The New Children’s Museum, we have a special place in our hearts for military families. We love our troops and strive to do everything we can to offer military children and families a place where they can play, make art and feel at home.#NCMHeartOurTroops_design.jpg

None of this would be possible without our generous sponsors, so we’d like to take the time to say THANK YOU.  Our Donor Spotlight for the month of May is The Issa Family Foundation. Their $20,000 donation for Military Support has helped fund three very important programs here at the Museum:

  1. Blue Star Museums Program:  This program provides free access to active military families from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
  2. Armed Forces YMCA Camp Pendleton: Children are provided transportation from the base to the Museum for a full day of artmaking and creative fun!
  3. STEP, Support the Enlisted Project: STEP (supporting military families experiencing hardships) is now part of our pARTners in Creativity program, joining 12 other social service agencies to which we provide after-hours private access.

We are lucky to have so manysponsors and partners that help us make art and the creative process accessible to the military. Stay tuned every month to learn more about the people and organizations that make it all happen!
