Step into The New Children’s Museum’s Drop-In Activity Space, a vibrant all ages hub for spontaneous creativity. Located next to the Innovators LAB, guests can “drop-in” at their convenience and unleash their imagination through self-led creative activities. Whether it’s crafting, painting, or building, the Drop-In Activity Space offers a diverse range of activities to cater to every young artist’s passion.

Current Drop-In Activity: Native Plants of California

The inspiration for our new Drop-In activity draws directly from The Native Plant Garden Project located outside the museum, featuring over twelve native plants of California. In the Spring of 2023, The New Children’s Museum partnered with the Barona Indian Charter School to create “‘Ipay Nyechewuuw”, “Our People’s Garden”,  to offer guests an opportunity to learn about Native California Plants and their historic Kumeyaay applications.

This Drop-In activity invites visitors to trace, color and create their own native plant while also learning about the everyday functional uses of the plant.

Come color, create and learn the value and historic uses of Native Plants of California!
