July Member Spotlight: Suzanne Lockyer Lawriw

This month we’re featuring longtime member Suzanne Lockyer Lawriw and her family of five! After moving to San Diego, Suzanne met her husband while building a haunted house in La Jolla for a mutual friend. They fell in love with each other and San Diego, and decided they wanted to raise their family here. They now have three girls who love exploring everything the city has to offer, including the Museum! As a family, the Lawriw’s love nature, the beach, live music and out-of-the-box thinking!

What brought you to the Museum?

Suzanne: Our kids who wanted to explore, play and create!

What’s been your favorite experience at the Museum so far?

S: There have been so many throughout the years! The Trojan horse exhibit (Toy An Horse) was one of our first favorites, but Whammock! is our current fave! The tire and mattress room (No Rules…Except) is amazing for getting energy out, but they really enjoy finding new secret hideouts (in The Wonder Sound) like the spoon room! My kids also really love the clay creation area.

Any fun facts about you?

S: I am a veteran of the U.S. Army and my time in the service was a true highlight for me. I currently enjoy teaching people how to make secret potions for their kiddos with essential oils. I also write for the San Diego Moms Blog and I love our mom community!
