I love that the exhibits rotate so we always see new things…So many places for imagination to go wild.

Our Museum is celebrating the month of love with ongoing thematic activities celebrating love, kindness and sharing. We’re also celebrating by showing some love to our Member Spotlight family!

This month, we are spotlighting Mary, her husband Metin and their daughter Annabelle!

Tell us a little about your wonderful family!

We’ve lived in San Diego a little over 5 years (from Chicago and Montreal) but fell in love with the mild temps! We have a 3 year old daughter named Annabelle, and I stay home with her to play and learn together. The museum gives her time with lots of kids her age, younger and older too!

Do you remember your first time visiting the Museum?

I remember Annabelle was around 8 months old and wasn’t very mobile yet. A completely different experience from chasing a 3 year old these days!

What are your favorite things to do at the Museum?

I love that the exhibits rotate so we always see new things. Annabelle MUST go to Wobbleland and ride on the avocado. She also really loves the Rody Horses lately! So many places for imagination to go wild. Scooping sand is always a blast!

What’s the best/funniest memory you have at the Museum?

I love seeing Annabelle make new friends. Oftentimes the kids play independently in the same area, but when they start chatting and making up games together, it’s the best! Last week, Annabelle met a little girl and they played for over an hour making up things to play as they went!

Favorite spot for lunch in San Diego?

We love Thai and Sushi, but the one restaurant that stands out for me is Cafe Gratitude! Delicious plant based and organic foods. Tender Greens is great, too!

Who would win in a Car-a-oke contest?

Absolutely not me, (you don’t want to hear me sing). Annabelle mostly reserves her singing pipes for bath time at night, but if she was in the mood, she’s hands down beat me!

Quick! What is the first word you think of when you hear New Children’s Museum?

Colorful!

Favorite weekend activity (besides visiting us, of course.)

We love the Zoo and Safari Park. We walk around town on Coronado Island, UTC mall for some live music while running errands. Waterfront Park is great too!
