Celebrate the end of summer with a day filled with adventure, imagination, and exploration at the Museum! Our superhero-themed workshops are still action-packed, and our Super Toddler Times each Friday morning continue to strengthen the imaginations of our smallest heroes.
Speaking of little heroes, we are thrilled to feature Karina, Rafael, and Katalina as our Member Spotlight for the month of August!
Karina, tell us a little about your wonderful family!
We are a family of three. Katalina’s dad, Rafael, works as a Lead Engineer for a manufacturing company and I recently completed my Master of Arts in Teaching Program with SDSU. I stay at home with Katalina enjoying our daily adventures around San Diego. Katalina is 17 months old. She is always happy and constantly laughing. Katalina enjoys being read to and listening to music that makes her dance! She loves attending baby classes at the library and going to The New Children’s Museum to play with other kids.
Do you remember your first time visiting the Museum?
Our first visit was on Katalina’s 1st birthday! We had a lovely time getting to know all the wonderful exhibits.
What is your favorite thing to do at the Museum?
We love to spend time at Wobbleland. Katalina loves climbing, running around and chasing other children. Katalina also loves spending time at the Sandbox Gallery. She loves to fill and dump containers with sand.
What’s the best memory you have at the Museum?
Our favorite memories are spending mom and daughter time together. We are always able to create new memories in the Museum.
Favorite spot for lunch in San Diego?
California Burritos Taco Shop near Rady’s Children’s Hospital! In our opinion: best Taco Shop in San Diego! Katalina enjoys eating from Mom and Dad’s carne asada burritos and pollo asado fries.
Who would win a karaoke contest?
Katalina’s dad is the singer of the family. Katalina loves when her dad plays music on weekend mornings and enjoys hearing him sing.
Quick! What is the first word you think of when you hear “The New Children’s Museum”?
Play-Based Learning!
Favorite weekend activity (besides visiting us, of course.)
We love to go to our local San Diego Libraries and go pick up Spanish board books. We also love to go play at the park.
