Join us in Artopia: NCM Creative Studios after school for a hands-on, project-based art series.
In this four-week program, young artists ages 8–10 will create their own handmade art books using papermaking and printmaking techniques. They’ll make custom paper, experiment with relief and monotype printing, and fill their pages with color, pattern, and personal storytelling.
Through playful guided activities, artists will explore how pictures convey ideas by designing characters, scenes, and symbols inspired by their own imaginations. They’ll also practice sustainable art-making by reusing and repurposing materials in creative ways.
Drawing inspiration from installations at The New Children’s Museum, participants will see how contemporary artists use materials and narrative to spark curiosity. Each artist will leave with a one-of-a-kind illustrated storybook.
This series is led by Artopia’s Art + Creative Learning Manager, Danielle Rives (she/her), whose practice spans painting, drawing, textiles, and mixed media. She loves quick sketches with ballpoint pens and creating texture rubbings with graphite sticks wherever inspiration strikes.
This 4-week series is a small group experience with limited seating. Register now to secure your artist spot today!
