Artists, makers, and curious minds don’t just use materials; they think with them. Materials Lab is an ongoing series in the Innovator’s LAB that explores one material each month through creative experimentation and hands-on discovery.

What to Expect:

In April, we’re creating with cardboard. Join a Teaching Artist for a guided  pop-up demonstration about a tool, process, technique, or idea inspired by that material, or drop in anytime during Innovator’s LAB open hours to experiment, explore, and engage in self-directed, open-ended making.

Pop-Up Demos:

Each week there’s something new! Explore our featured material in depth with different tools, techniques, and creative ideas. Demos rotate on a weekly basis, beginning on Wednesdays.

  • Wednesdays-Fridays at 11am and 1pm
  • Sundays and Mondays at 11am and 1pm

Please note: Demonstrations will not be offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Things to know before visiting the Innovators LAB:

  • Age Requirement: Ages 4+ are welcome but must be accompanied by a supporting caregiver.
  • Safety-focused materials: Items like hot glue guns, adult scissors, beads, and other small or potentially hazardous materials will only be available upon request and at the discretion of the studio team.
  • Real-time capacity management: RSVPs are no longer required, we’ll monitor seating in real time.
