Join us for our next Seeding Futures: Author Visit on September 14 from 10am-12pm featuring Zetta Elliott, author of The Oracle’s Door.
This free event will include a reading and Q+A by the author, an art activity led by our NCM team and attendees will receive a take home art kit to create their own fire-breathing dragon!
Releasing on September 14, The Oracle’s Door is a stand-alone fantasy novel for young readers that weaves a magical tale while subtly revealing conditions in early twentieth-century Chicago that led to the 1919 Race Riot. Before Ma became the oldest and most powerful witch in Brooklyn, she grew up looking for adventure on the South Side of Chicago. When Lavinia “Vinny” Robinson hears a faraway voice inviting her to open a rainbow-edged door in the sky, Vinny enters a world filled with dragons! But can magic keep her family safe when chaos descends on Aldine Square?
Museum admission is included with free registration to this book signing event, and the first 10 registrants will receive a complimentary copy of the book (limit 1 per family)! Joyride Bookshop will also be selling copies of The Oracle’s Door.
The Oracle’s Door is geared towards upper elementary and middle school students, but welcome to all!
The Museum will be closed on Thursday, 11/28; however we will be open every other day on Thanksgiving week from 9am-4pm, including Tuesday, 11/26. See you at NCM!
