Support the Power of Social Emotional Learning Through Art
At The New Children’s Museum, we believe in the transformative power of art to foster growth, understanding, and connection. That’s why we’re dedicated to integrating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) into our educational programming—helping children develop critical skills to navigate their emotions, build empathy, and strengthen relationships.
This year, we are raising funds for our Social Emotional Learning Program, a unique initiative designed in collaboration with San Diego Unified School District’s Visual and Performing Arts Department, an Art Therapist, a project evaluator, and 11 dedicated teachers from 7 Title 1 schools. Together, we’ve created a curriculum that empowers classroom teachers to nurture SEL in their students through the medium of visual arts.

What is Social Emotional Learning?
Social Emotional Learning is the process through which individuals acquire and apply the skills to manage emotions, develop healthy identities, build supportive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Our program taps into the creative power of the arts to bring SEL to life in classrooms, helping children express themselves and connect with others in meaningful ways.
