Virtual School Visits

The Museum offers Virtual School Visits for classroom grades 1-5 and Pre-K-K! Through our Virtual School Visit classroom set, educators and students will enjoy interactive, unique and fun online tour experiences of the Museum’s art installations and studio spaces, and take part in standards-based art activities.

Registration for 2023-2024 school visits will open September 11, 2023!

REGISTER FOR VIRTUAL SCHOOL VISIT

What’s Included:

• An instructional overview sheet for the educator.
• A pre-recorded, 45-minute video tour, in which students are playfully led through the Museum. (Youtube link provided)
• 30 art kits (1 kit per student) with an activity booklet and art materials (scissors and pencils not provided)

Cost:

• FREE for educators at designated Title 1 schools. (Limited number of sets per month; first-come, first-serve).
• Classroom set of 30 kits: $90
• Additional sets of 5 kits: $15 each

Note: Classroom sets must be picked up at the Museum on designated pickup days noted during registration. Shipping is not available.

California Arts Standards for Visual Arts

• Grade 1: Identify the roles and responsibilities of people who work in and visit museums/other art venues.
• Grade 2: Discuss and reflect with peers about choices made in creating artwork.
• Grade 3: Speculate about processes an artist uses to create a work of art.
• Grade 4: Compare responses to a work of art before and after working in similar media.
• Grade 5: Compare one’s own interpretation of a work of art with the interpretation of others.

• Additional sets of 5 kits: $10 each

Preschool Learning Foundations (Visual Arts + Social Emotional Learning)

• 48 Months: 
  • Create art marks with crayons, paint and chalk, and then identify them.
  • Begin to use paper and other materials to assemble simple collages.
  • Chooses to play with one or two special peers whom they identify as friends.
• 60 Months: 
  • Intentionally create content in a work of art.
  • Use paper and other materials to make two and three-dimensional assembled works.
  • Friendships are more reciprocal, exclusive, and enduring.

REGISTER FOR PRE-K-K PACKAGE

What’s Included:

The long distance version is available to educators who are not local and/or unable to pick up kits. It includes:

• Tour videos for both grades Pre-K-K and 1-5
• Downloadable PDF versions of all activity content
• Recommended supply list for all activities. Art materials not provided.

Cost:

• FREE for educators at designated Title 1 schools. (No limit)
• Grade Pre-K-K content: $10
• Grade 1-5 content: $10
