A fund for The New Children's Museum's Future

The New Children’s Museum believes in the power of NEW – being a NEW model for art and play; always offering something NEW to discover; and putting our hope in a NEW future by fostering skills to help children grow into resilient, compassionate adults. Today, in the midst of this challenging time, we ask you to join us in reNEWing Hope for the Museum, our community and beyond.

As a nonprofit that relies on a steady stream of visitors, The New Children’s Museum is currently experiencing a financial hardship. To ensure that we are ready to reopen our doors and resume our programming as soon as it is safe to do so, we have made challenging decisions that have affected our staffing during this period when we are unable to welcome our valued guests.

While we greatly miss inspiring and connecting with families face-to-face, the Museum is connecting virtually during this crisis. We are continually creating NEW virtual content through our #thinkplaycreatefromhome initiative. We’re engaging children with creative and educational resources to keep learning on track and parents at their best during school closures. We are also supporting our community as they use art to cope with isolation, demonstrate support for their neighbors and share hope for a brighter day.

If you have the means, please give today – any size donation* is greatly appreciated. However, if your family finds itself in a challenging financial situation at this time, please consider our online resources our gift to you.

All of us at The New Children’s Museum thank you and can’t wait to think, play and create with you in person soon!

*Congress passed the CARES Act on March 27, 2020, including an expanded charitable deduction for those who do not itemize. Your contribution may be eligible for this tax benefit. And, for those who do itemize deductions, a donation to the Museum is likely tax-deductible, as we are a 501(c)(3) charity. Please check with your tax advisor.

Funding Opportunities

Help fund our newest art installation

We are thrilled to introduce our newest artist commission by Tijuana-based artist Panca that is slated to open after the Museum’s safe reopening. Panca’s installation El Más Allá will transport visitors to a world that, like the English translation of the title, is beyond what we currently know. A colorful, immersive environment with 20-foot murals of imaginary characters, pod structures and a monumental slide, El Más Allá will provide unique ways for us to connect with each other and reNEW Hope through art.

Support Our Access Programs

During the Museum’s closure, we continue to provide free access to arts education and creative learning through our various community access programs! This includes our free online creative resources, thousands of art kits donated to various San Diego social service organizations through our pARTners in Creativity program, and free Virtual School Visit tour packages for Title 1 schools (grades 1-5). Help us continue to reNEW Hope through art for families and children throughout our community!
